Want to be part of a cooperatively owned business? Go to: https://www.pedalpeople.coop/index.php?page=50. Women, LGBTQ folks, and people of color are encouraged to apply. Work is part-time, with a one-year minimum commitment. ** RECYCLING REMINDERS ** So much packaging, where does it go? Is it recycling? Is it trash? In this section we strive to provide on-going education to navigate the maze of recyclable items. For this month, the recycling reminder is: Cardboard milk cartons and almond milk/rice milk/soup cartons go in containers recycling. This is because they are actually made from several layers of different materials, not just paper. For a complete list, see this helpful flyer from the Springfield Materials Recycling Facility where all our recycling ultimately goes: http://springfieldmrf.org/site/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/inside-brochure-small-1-22-15-MRF.pdf Feel free to call, email, and now text, with any recycling questions... we are more than happy to help you. ** SHORT STORIES FROM THE PEDALISTAS ** Welcome Annie, who joined our collective on February 18th. On her first day of work, 35 degrees and pouring rain all day, Annie received a tip from a guy at the dump who said "I don't know what you're doing or why you're doing it, but here, take this" and he gave her a $5 bill. And from Ruthy: I was pedaling a fully loaded and heavy-feeling trailer up the South Main St hill, and there was a group of high schoolers walking up the sidewalk next to me. One guy said, "I want to do that sometime," and I said, "How about now?" and he enthusiastically pedaled my bike and full trailer up the hill while his friends cheered him on. (Thanks JT!) ** PEDAL PEOPLE YARD CARE ** Our Pedal People Yard and Garden Care services are off and running this spring! We offer quiet, clean, human-powered mowing, weeding, digging, planting, spring cleanups, and general maintenance. We also offer raking and leaf hauling services and compost bin construction.
